$20 is a planning example for a local trip, not a minimum or flat fee. Enter the actual reasonable expense agreed with us. Travel is charged only with your advance agreement.
Witness availability and document requirements must be confirmed. A $5 “buy them a coffee” courtesy per witness is optional and paid directly to the witness, not to FXBG Notary.
What counts as a notarial act?
An acknowledgment, jurat, oath, or other permitted notarial act is assessed under Virginia’s fee rules. A document can require more than one act. Ask the document’s issuing or receiving party which act is required; a notary cannot choose legal language for you.

Virginia law caps each traditional notarial act at $10 and permits recovery of actual and reasonable travel expenses with the client’s agreement. A typical two-act appointment is therefore $20 before travel. Electronic notarization has a different limit and is not included here. See Virginia Code § 47.1-19.
